As usual during first ice in Colorado the bite was fast and aggressive during the mornings and evenings with the action slowing during mid-day. Small bright colored ice jigs worked well tipped with a mealworm or waxworm. Jigged in the mornings and evenings was the best presentation, changing to a slow dead-stick presentation during the mid-day.
Sadly, the ice left Colorado as fast as it came. With the crazy weather warming the entire state during the week of Thanksgiving, Antero lost the ice as fast as it froze. Don’t be discouraged!
With open water on most of the lakes in Colorado, it will only be a few short weeks before the well anticipated First Ice comes again. A second chance at first ice means a second round of fast pasted ice fishing action with the allure of true trophies that always come out during first ice!
