Colorado's ice fishing season started early this year on some of our high mountain lakes locking up with some solid ice, insulated with a cover of snow. Early ice fishing in Colorado is one of the funnest times to fish with lots of action and big fish potential too! When the mountain lakes lock up with safe ice, fish are on the move aggressively looking for feed along weed edges and shorelines. Ice fishing close to the bottom for less active fish can be effective or fishing just a few feet under the ice can really show results for aggressive fish.

Northern pike fishing in Colorado during the fall provides another great opportunity for quality fish. When the fall weather sets in and water temps drop, these changes signal a feeding surge for pike to pack the pounds on for winter. Northern pike are a cold water fish species so as the fall temperatures cool, the pike activity speeds up. Colorado Adrenaline Fishing guide Connor Foy has been chasing a good pike bite on Spinney Mt Reservoir this fall as shown in the pic above.
FishOn! FishHead Outdoors Robby Richardson with Sport Fish Colorado and I finally got a chance to get on the water and play. We spent the morning chasing shad schools looking for active wiper, then as the morning warmed up we switched over to jigging walleye. With our time running out, last cast of the day something crushes my lure and starts screaming drag!
The wonderful mystery of fishing, you'll never know what comes tugging on the line the next cast! Great fishing with you Robby, excited about the next fishing excursion! FishOn! FishHead Outdoors
Colorado's summer fishing can be a grind but our South Park lakes are still fishing good! The big trout bite has been decent with the occasional pike being caught on Spinney along with Eleven Mile Reservoir producing good numbers of medium sized trout. The grass is thick so presentations can be difficult, a slight breeze to wind has definitely helped open some areas of the lake up for better action with less grass headaches.
FishOn! FishHead Outdoors Pike fishing Colorado can be tricky, but the rewards are well worth the efforts! The pike bite remains pretty good still through June with big pike getting tougher to get into as water temps climb in July. Focus on established weedbeds close to deeper water and speed your presentations up as water temps increase.
FishOn! FishHead Outdoors Fishing Lake Pueblo Colorado is still producing good numbers of walleye along with some good size walleye. Averaging 50-60 fish per trip with a handful of keeper walleye. Bass seem to be small in general with wiper schools showing up occasionally. A variety of techniques are producing well from plastic jigs and live-bait rigs, to speed trolling crankbaits.
FishOn! FishHead Outdoors Fishing Lake Pueblo offers a variety of fishing fun ranging from hands over fists daytime walleye fishing, to chasing fat catfish and carp at night. Lake Pueblo has A Lot of water to cover with fish scattered all over the lake, so if the bite is not on hit the throttle and move!
FishOn! FishHead Outdoors Fishing in Colorado provides the opportunity for big trout on Spinney Mt Reservoir. Big trout roam Colorado lakes and many of these trout have learned to feed on fish to pack the pounds on. Bugs can be a stable feed for trout, but it takes a whole lot of bugs to equal the calories of one fish. So many of our big Colorado trout have learned not to pass up a hearty fish or crawdad meal. This season on Spinney there seems to be a whole lot of yellow perch in the system and some of the lake's big trout seem to be feeding on them. Stickbaits and swimbaits in natural and bright colors have been working well both trolling or casting.
FishOn! FishHead Outdoors Lake Pueblo Colorado fishing report continues to be easy to write with Great Fishing! Lake Pueblo fishing for walleye continues to be Off the Hook, with 50 plus walleye boated per trip and plenty of keepers! Lake Pueblo fishing is hot right now for all species including walleye, bass, and wipers. Seeing more wipers in Lake Pueblo this 2018 season then we've seen in recent years. Walleye are scattered throughout main lake structure with a variety of fishing techniques working well from finesse live-bait to soft-plastic jigs, along with crankbaits working. Many of Lake Pueblo's bass are staged on beds with other bass in post pawn patterns.

AuthorFishing is not a hobby, it's my lifestyle. If I'm not on the water, I'm thinking about being on the water. Obviously obsessed, the fishing journey has carried me across the Rocky Mountains eventually across the states, where I encountered the term "FishHead" for the first time. "FishHead" - a person who is completely consumed by the thoughts of fishing; an incurable sickness caused by fishing that consumes a person during all awake hours and usually persists throughout the sleep cycle.
