Ice fishing madness is here in Colorado, but it doesn't come easy. Be on your toes at Antero Reservoir for when you find fish it’s often coupled with the adrenaline charged rush of sprinting after bent ice rods in hopes of snagging the rod in time to catch the fish before it’s too late! And the last thing you see is the butt of the ice rod as it dives into the frozen abyss! It’s not easy to find the fish, feast or famine seems to be the trend.
The trout at Antero seem to be moving in small dispensed schools, so when you find one fish the chances are there’s more around. Small brightly colored ice jigs and tubes have been producing consistently tipped with your favorite bait: wax worm, mealworm, shrimp, or earthworm.
