Lathrop State Park: Includes Martin and Horseshoe Lakes
Martin Lake is a smaller lake with beautiful scenery of the foothills and Spanish Peaks offering the opportunity of catching several fish species throughout the day. Martin offers fishing to northern pike, walleye, wiper, largemouth bass, trout, and catfish. The lake also offers fly fishing for trout and bass. Located 15 minutes west of Walsenburg.
Horseshoe Lake is the second lake in Lathrop State Park offering the same beautiful scenery and similar fishing opportunities as Martin. One unique aspect of this lake is being home to the infamous tiger musky, known as the fish of 10,000 casts. Some true giants have been seen coming out on occasion. The lake also provides fly fishing for trout, bass, and crappie.
