The crowds are growing on the ice at 11 Mile and the ice fishing can be tough. Small white, pink, and olive ice jigs tipped with either a waxworm or meal worm seem to be holding a consistent bite when fish can be found. In general the inlet area seems to be holding more fish, but you have to look for them. A slow jig or a dead stick presentation seems to be producing strikes when fish are around.
Check the ice often for there are plenty of slushy spots on top of ice, which seems to have softer ice underneath. With these warm days we've been having, the ice conditions can change quickly throughout the day. Slushy soft ice you walked over at sunrise without a problem might not be so sturdy by 2 or 3 pm, so be safe and check the ice.
